On Wednesday night, I had the most flavorful night out with friends and fellow bloggers. We were invited for a special tasting at the brand new authentic poke and bao restaurant, and I must say, I was blown away by the freshness and flavor of each dish. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted by this beautiful and colorful mural:

We started the night off right with rounds and rounds of refreshing booze – beer, sake, and wine.
Then the food arrived and I swear, all I heard was “mmm,” and “wow.” We really were amazed at the quality of each dish!
Tempura Fries – fresh cut veggies, Kona beer batter, japanese spice belnd, and feta-tofu dressing
Crispy Rice Tuna -fresh chopped yellow fin tuna served on cripsy rice, burnt soy, and topped with a serrano pepper
Db’s Spicy Ahi Tuna – furikake rice, yellow fin tuna, masago, fuego mayao, green onion, and sesame seeds
Local Crispy Whitefish – definitely a winner in my books-cilantro rice, locally caught whitefish, serrano pepper, roasted corn, red onion, citrus salt, and yuzu tartar sauce
Dipping my whitefish into the yuzu tartar sauce
And my absolute favorite dish of the night…
Db’s Sweet and Spicy Short Rib -they should really add the word juicy to this, because sweet, spicy, and juicy it was! It’s braised short rib, hoisin, picked vegetables, cilantro, scallion and sour cream
It was great meeting PokeBao’s Chef / Owner, Daniel Bouza to hear and see his enthusiasm for his new Haiiwaian and Asian-inspired casual joint. “The PokéBao promise will be fine dining quality food in a relaxed and comfortable setting at great prices,” says Bouza.
Authentic and appetizing are two words that describe the brand new casual Hawaiian restaurant in Coral Gables. They opened in January and are now officially open for lunch! Do yourself a favor and visit PokeBao at 153 Giralda Ave, Coral Gables or call them at 786-801-1951.
